Welcome to the Volunteer Manager's Page (SVON)
The second volunteer managers group met on Tuesday 9 February 2010 under it's new name of SVON - Sandwell Volunteer Organisers Network.
This meeting featured 2 guest speakers who added their weight and support to project managers who involve and support volunteers in their services and facilities.
Mel Chevannes - Chair of England Volunteering Development Council - spoke and presented some notes outlining the basic fundamental considerations around the topic of involving and supporting volunteers
in their work.
Carl Cadman - Volunteer Recruitment Manager for Acorns Hospice - spoke and presented notes from his background as a recruiter but also from his own perspectives as a former Acorns volunteer himself. He
suggested many good things from previous experience including a big interest in doughnuts!
